Generation Process of E-way Bill

The e-way bill must contain details of the goods being transported, including the name of the consignor and consignee, the invoice or challan number, the HSN code, the quantity and value of goods, and the vehicle number in which the goods are being transported, among others.

 

The e-way bill can be generated by the consignor, consignee, or transporter, depending on the mode of transportation. If the transportation is by road, the transporter is required to generate the e-way bill. If the transportation is by rail, air, or ship, the consignor or the authorized agent is required to generate the e-way bill.

 

 

Features of E-way Bill

1. Validity Period

The validity period of the e-way bill depends on the distance covered by the goods being transported. For every 100 kilometers or part thereof, the e-way bill is valid for one day. The maximum validity period of the e-way bill is 15 days.

The e-way bill is divided into two parts – Part A and Part B. Part A contains details of the goods being transported, while Part B contains details of the vehicle in which the goods are being transported.

 

3. Consolidated E-way Bill

If multiple consignments are being transported in a single conveyance, a consolidated e-way bill can be generated for all the consignments.
